چکیده

In this study, a model is developed to assess external corrosion in buried pipelines based on the unification of Bayesian inferential structure derived from Markov chain Monte Carlo techniques using clustered inspection data. This proposed stochastic model combines clustering algorithms that can ascertain the similarity of corrosion defects and Monte Carlo simulation that can give an accurate probability density function estimation of the corrosion rate. The metal loss rate is chosen as the indicator of corrosion damage propagation, obeying a generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution. Bayesian theory was employed to update the probability distribution of metal loss rate as well as the GEV parameters in order to account for the model uncertainty. The proposed model was validated with direct and indirect inspection data extracted from a 110-km buried pipeline

New Approaches in 3D Geomechanical Earth Modeling

In this paper two new approaches for building 3D Geomechanical Earth Model (GEM) were introduced. The first method is a hybrid of geostatistical estimators, Bayesian inference, Markov chain and Monte Carlo, which is called Model Based Geostatistics (MBG). It has utilized to achieve more accurate geomechanical model and condition the model and parameters of variogram. The second approach is the ...

Spatial count models on the number of unhealthy days in Tehran

Spatial count data is usually found in most sciences such as environmental science, meteorology, geology and medicine. Spatial generalized linear models based on poisson (poisson-lognormal spatial model) and binomial (binomial-logitnormal spatial model) distributions are often used to analyze discrete count data in which spatial correlation is observed. The likelihood function of these models i...

Bayesian dynamic linear model for growth of corrosion defects on energy pipelines

This paper describes the use of the second-order polynomial dynamic linear model (DLM) to characterize the growth of the depth of corrosion defects on energy pipelines using data obtained from multiple high-resolution in-line inspections (ILI). The growth model incorporates the measurement error of the ILI tools and captures the temporal variability of the corrosion growth by allowing the artif...

A mixed Bayesian/Frequentist approach in sample size determination problem for clinical trials

In this paper we introduce a stochastic optimization method based ona mixed Bayesian/frequentist approach to a sample size determinationproblem in a clinical trial. The data are assumed to come from a nor-mal distribution for which both the mean and the variance are unknown. In contrast to the usual Bayesian decision theoretic methodology, whichassumes a single decision maker, our method recogni...

Bayesian Analysis of Censored Spatial Data Based on a Non-Gaussian Model

Abstract: In this paper, we suggest using a skew Gaussian-log Gaussian model for the analysis of spatial censored data from a Bayesian point of view. This approach furnishes an extension of the skew log Gaussian model to accommodate to both skewness and heavy tails and also censored data. All of the characteristics mentioned are three pervasive features of spatial data. We utilize data augme...
